Christmas Ham
The tradition of Christmas ham dates back to pre-Christian Europe, where Germanic and Scandinavian pagans held midwinter feasts honoring Freyr, the Norse god of fertility and prosperity, by sacrificing a wild boar. This practice persisted through the centuries and was later adapted into Christmas celebrations as Christianity spread across Europe. In medieval England, the Yule boar remained a centerpiece of festive feasts, symbolizing abundance and good fortune.
