Pufferfish - (ca. 2052)

Image
Almost all pufferfish contain tetrodotoxin, a substance that makes them foul tasting and often lethal to fish. To humans, tetrodotoxin is deadly, up to 1,200 times more poisonous than cyanide. There is enough toxin in one pufferfish to kill 30 adult humans, and there is no known antidote. Be careful all you dingdongs.

2026 Calendar Preview... Breaking New Years Resolutions in Advance.

Image
The forefront is less terrifying than the AI generated background. There are three faces in this image. The pigeon foremost, the smiling smoke from the pigeon's cigarette (looking to left with mouth ajar), and lastly one more in the background. Notice in the upper top right corner of the image there is a rather grim looking face. The brown wall has been distorted and angled from the bottom right and pushed to the left.  This was not created by me, but rather AI's take on the subject matter. I am haunted.

Whales can have swords... I guess.

Let's celebrate gluttony for a moment. Gluttony is defined simply as an excess of anything. Cheers to this crazy whale.

Lou Reed Inspired Dragonflies (2 Images)

"Pedro lives out of the Wilshire Hotel. He looks out a window without glass. And the walls are made of cardboard, newspapers on his feet and his father beats him because he's too tired to beg. He's got 9 brothers and sisters, they're brought up on their knees. It's hard to run when a coat hanger beats you on the thighs. Pedro dreams of being older and killing the old man but that's a slim chance, he's going to the boulevard. He's going to end up on the dirty boulevard. He's going out to the dirty boulevard. He's going down to the dirty boulevard. This room cost 2,000 dollars a month, you can believe it man, it's true somewhere a landlord's laughing till he wets his pants. No one dreams of being a doctor or a lawyer or anything. They dream of dealing on the dirty boulevard. Give me your hungry, your tired, your poor - I'll piss on 'em. That's what the Statue of Bigotry says. Your poor huddled masses, let's club 'em to ...

Black Widows... and a few more (7 Images)

Image
Black widow spiders (Latrodectus spp.) are notorious for their venomous bite and distinctive appearance. Recognizable by their glossy black bodies and the iconic red hourglass marking on the underside of their abdomens, these spiders are found in temperate regions worldwide, often in dark, sheltered areas like woodpiles, sheds, and under rocks. Despite their fearsome reputation, black widows are generally non-aggressive and bite only in self-defense. Their venom contains neurotoxins that can cause muscle pain, cramps, and other symptoms in humans, though fatalities are extremely rare due to modern medical treatments. Female black widows are significantly larger than males and sometimes consume their mates after reproduction, a behavior that contributes to their infamous name.

Like a moth drawn to a flame.. Oh wait, in this case the sun. (3 Images)

Image
Moths are drawn to light due to a phenomenon called positive phototaxis. This means they instinctively move toward light sources. The most widely accepted theory is that moths use natural light (like the moon) for navigation. They maintain a constant angle to the light source to fly in a straight line. However, artificial lights confuse them, causing them to spiral around or head straight into the source just like the rest of us...

Bow Your Heads. Let Us Pray. (3 Images)

Yeah, this one will likely stir up some trouble.

Fire Ants! (3 Images)

Image
Fire ants play a significant role in ecosystems by aerating the soil as they dig their tunnels, which improves water infiltration and nutrient cycling. They also help control populations of other insects, including agricultural pests, by preying on them. While often seen as a nuisance due to their painful stings and aggressive behavior, (I very much agree with this) fire ants contribute to biodiversity by serving as a food source for birds, reptiles, and other predators.

Don't Always Trust the Lady (Bugs)...

We've all been there. No matter what your story is... live and learn (I usually don't bother) but their mostly good so be nice. You're likely worse and you know it.

Butterflies... (8 Images)

Image
Butterflies play a crucial role in ecosystems as pollinators, helping plants reproduce by transferring pollen between flowers. This supports biodiversity and contributes to the growth of fruits, vegetables, and other crops essential to both wildlife and human agriculture. Additionally, butterflies serve as indicators of a healthy environment; their presence reflects balanced ecosystems and clean air. They're also an important part of the food chain, providing nourishment for birds, reptiles, and other animals. They inspire art, culture, scientific research, offer insight into evolution, climate change, and conservation efforts. Here's some art.

Homage to Rick Griffin (1944 - 1991)

Image
Rick Griffin was a highly influential American artist known for his psychedelic and surreal poster designs, particularly in the 1960s counterculture movement. He was an inspiration to me and was simply groundbreaking. His work became iconic through his contributions to rock concert posters, album covers, and underground comics. Griffin was closely associated with the San Francisco music scene, creating posters for legendary bands like The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. His intricate, fluid lettering and dreamlike imagery set his style apart, often incorporating elements of surrealism, Native American motifs, and science fiction. Beyond music, Griffin also worked on the underground comic Zap Comix , collaborating with other counterculture artists like Robert Crumb . His artistic evolution eventually led him toward spiritual themes later in life, reflecting his deep personal transformation. Griffin's legacy continues to inspire graphic designers, pos...

Treacherous Waters

Image
Squids are highly intelligent, fast-swimming marine mollusks belonging to the class Cephalopoda, which also includes octopuses and cuttlefish. They have elongated bodies, large eyes, and a set of arms and tentacles equipped with suckers for capturing prey. Squids propel themselves using a jet propulsion system, expelling water through a siphon for rapid movement. This one is dated, and somehow from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..... Enjoy Star Wars fans.
